The Riding
We have one aim here at Riders of the Lost Trail; to make your trip fun. When we say ‘Ride! Because you can.’, we mean it. We want you to leave one of our tours with that warm feeling that off road biking in an incredible environment leaves you with. Exhilaration is the core! As the spirit of adventure seems to be moving farther away from our everyday lives, our goal is to re-kindle and offer you a large chunk of excitement and adventure, in this special and unique part of Spain.
No other trail tour company offers the diversity of riding as we do here in the ‘Sierra’s’ of Inland Andalucia. You won’t cross other guided groups of riders in this neck of the woods, because there aren’t any!
One day can see you riding through the ‘pistes’ of the ‘Alcornocales’ forest, which is Europes largest cork producing area, a National park, and utterly breath taking. `Another, could be passing an ancient water mill on a cobbled footpath and then crossing the ‘Genal’ river on the way to one of the picturesque classic ‘white villages’.
A different day could see you climbing to a mountain summit, with views down towards Gibraltar and on a clear day, across to the Rif mountains of northern Morocco.
All these fantastic places to experience and all from behind the bars of one of our excellent enduro bikes
Each tour is individual as you are an individual. If you want to go quickly, then we will go quickly. If you want to trundle along and take more time to take in the scenery, then that is what we shall do. All the way through all of Riders of the Lost Trails tours, Phil or Richard will always be ‘on tap’ to help with developing your off road riding skills.
As well as a great day's riding, each day will take you to a carefully chosen traditional Andalucian restaurant. Along with enriching your desire to ride, we want to enrich your belly.
The Bikes
We have chosen the recently re-released Suzuki DRZ 400 E as our bikes of choice. These ‘bullet proof’ bikes offer a perfect balance of easy handling combined with loads of well distributed power, to pull you up, down, over or through pretty much any terrain you choose.
The DRZ’s provide a perfect ‘ first time’ off road bike and are more than capable of making your hair stand on end if you are a more experienced off road rider.
All of our bikes have been aftermarket prepared to ensure they are tough. We have fitted the best quality parts to ensure they stay in one piece.
The bikes come equipped with…….
• 4mm ‘Guard It Technology’ full enduro alloy sump guards.
• Flatland Racing’ (from the USA) full wrap around radiator guards.
• Braced Renthal alloy 7/8ths handlebars.
• Acerbis Rally Pro hand guards.
The result of all this armour is a bike which is as tough as anything on two wheels.
The quality of our Suzuki’s is backed up the same high standard of maintenance. At the end of each day’s riding, we put the bikes through a comprehensive check list to ensure they are in tip top condition for the next days riding.
Safety & Equipment
As well as providing a fantastic location and great bikes, Riders of the Lost Trail prides itself in being able to offer the rider, the very best in clothing and safety gear.
It is vitally important that you feel comfortable and safe when riding, and a result, we have sourced what we consider to be the best products on the market.

Part of your enjoyment in riding on one of our tours, involves doing our utmost to keep you safe. Our responsibility is to provide you with experienced guides, and the best safety gear on the market – which we do!
The odd tumble will happen. It is all part and parcel of the ‘off roading’ experience. In nearly all cases, the rider (and guides!!!!) pick him or herself up, brushes themselves down, and then feels mildly embarrassed for a few minutes!! REMEMBER, what feels like ‘lightening speed’ is normally between 25 and 45 kmh.
Both Phil Wood and Rich Nash have specialist motorcycle, ‘First Response’ medical training, and both carry first aid kits. The guides carry the very latest GPS systems, so we can accurately pin point where we are in case we need to call in medical services.
